From: Dr. Jaden Palmer
To: Pillbox Hill Hiring Committee
Subject: Letter of interest for the position of Resident Physician in General Surgery.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I'm writing this letter to express my interest in joining Pillbox Hill Medical Center as a surgical resident. I chose this institution because it is without a doubt the biggest hospital in the city of Los Santos. Even though all lives are equal, I believe I can bring valuable expertise in a much larger hospital compared to my previous Paleto Bay Care Center employment. It has always been my dream to work in a hospital of Pillbox's size and to be able to provide care for a lot more patients. I believe my academic success, my past studies, along with my brief experience in The Bay Care Center, qualify me for this position. Alongside that, I’m a very hard-working individual who has always shown a great work ethic. I’m the type of doctor who has no issue answering a pager for surgery at 4 AM or working back-to-back 24-hour shifts at times of need. I respect my oath and I hold it to a high value. I always strive to get better and learn from my supervisors and peers, I’m very receptive to criticism and feedback, and I adapt well to circumstances. If allowed the chance to embark on this opportunity, I plan to make the most of it on the professional, educational, and even personal level.
Thank you for taking your time to review my application and this letter. Joining this institution would be the hallmark of my professional career.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Jaden Palmer

8.9) What's the backstory of your character? Provide information in regards to your character's childhood, education, past jobs, hobbies, motivations, future goals, and everything else you find relevant:
Jaden was born on the 15th of July 1997, he grew up to a Jamaican mother and an African American father, in a poor community with little to no healthcare, a hood infested with gangs and poverty. He witnessed what the spread of diseases, drugs, and violence can lead to. From his early childhood he was able to witness death and injuries firsthand from all the usual gang conflicts. But instead of leaving him severely traumatized, he instead grew up heavily motivated to try and make a change. In elementary school he set his eyes on becoming a doctor when he grows up, a lot of people thought he’s just a kid dreaming, but he never grew out of that dream.
Through his school years he maintained a pretty humble life, he was the typical school nerd A+ student. Always studying even on weekends to get the highest grades possible, and even though it affected his social life, he didn’t grow up lonely, he had a small circle of close friends in the form of a book club. Upon graduating high school, he followed a pre-medical track at Howard University, and just like his high school years, he sped through those years with excellent grades. Excelling particularly in human anatomy and physiology, his academic achievements earned him a scholarship to attend the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
At Johns Hopkins, Jaden’s hard work was clear. Not only he maintained his study ethics and dedication, but he also actively participated in research projects and clinical rotations, which gained him a great understanding of patient care and medical science. One of his projects was a thesis on minimally invasive surgical techniques which was received well by his peers and showed his potential in the surgical field. His personality was well praised as well, he was a polite and practical individual, but also knew when to let loose and have fun, he improved on his school years and became more social, often hanging out with his roommates and study mates after school. He also picked up a couple of hobbies to keep himself entertained, one being music, he learned how to play the piano and use online programs to create amateur tracks. Also, living alone, he picked up on how to cook a few meals and still strives to improve. These two hobbies were all he did whenever he wasn't working or studying.
After his four years at Johns Hopkins, Jaden graduated with his MD, ranking in the top 10% of his class. His journey as a doctor started right away, with his academic history he landed an opportunity as a junior surgical resident in a renowned hospital in Washington D.C. There Jaden further refined his skills and got a hands-on experience with patients for a very brief period, but unfortunately his journey had to be cut short too early. His father was promoted at his job to branch manager but that branch was not in Washington, it was in Los Santos. Considering his father’s age and the fact that he can’t leave his parents alone, Jaden followed suit.
Once he settled in the city, he started working at the Paleto Bay’s Bay Care Center, he continued to show his skills and his ability to adapt from working at a large-scale hospital to a simple small town center, although he wasn’t always thrilled with it. He always knew that he had potential way beyond just working a small town care center. He spent a year there and got to know Los Santos better and get along well with the locals, but his dream to be a Surgeon at a large hospital always lingered in his brain. Once he saw an opening for the position of Resident Physician in General Surgery at PHMC, he didn’t hesitate to send in his application.
