1. JOB INFORMATION

  • ROLE:
    • A Registered Nurse (RN) is a highly skilled and integral member of our healthcare team who is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care. They play a vital role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to ensure the well-being and recovery of patients across various healthcare settings. Registered Nurses are licensed professionals with the education, clinical expertise, and critical thinking skills needed to make crucial healthcare decisions and deliver compassionate care.
    DUTIES:
    • Registered Nurses in the emergency room perform critical roles in providing immediate care and managing patients in high-stress and often life-threatening situations. Their duties are multifaceted and demanding. Here are some key responsibilities:
      • Conduct rapid assessments to determine the severity of patients' conditions and prioritize care accordingly;
      • Administer life-saving interventions, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), defibrillation, and airway management, during emergencies;
      • Administer medications, including pain relief, antibiotics, and emergency drugs, while closely monitoring patient responses;
      • Perform wound care, suturing, splinting, and assist with invasive procedures such as intubation and central line placement;
      • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, ECGs, and laboratory tests to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning;
      • Work to stabilize critically ill patients, ensuring they are ready for surgery or transfer to specialized care units if necessary;
      • Provide patients and their families with information about medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care instructions;
      • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans;
      • Juggle the care of multiple patients simultaneously, adjusting priorities based on the changing needs of each patient;
      • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, relay critical information, and update patients and families on their conditions and treatment progress;
      • Advocate for patients' rights and ensure they receive appropriate care and support;
      • Assess and manage pain in patients while ensuring appropriate pain relief measures are administered;
      • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records, documenting patient assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment;
      • Provide emotional support to patients and their families during times of crisis and distress;
      • Efficiently utilize healthcare resources, including equipment and medications, to ensure optimal patient care.
  • SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Working as a Registered Nurse in an emergency room demands a unique skill set to excel in this high-pressure and dynamic healthcare environment. They must possess a combination of clinical expertise, critical thinking abilities, and interpersonal skills to provide effective care in emergencies. Here are the essential skills:

  • REQUIREMENTS:
    • To fulfill the role of a Registered Nurse effectively, individuals must meet specific requirements that ensure their eligibility and readiness for this position. While the basic educational requirements for a Registered Nurse (RN) are essential, there are additional qualifications and experiences that are desired and preferred to excel in this demanding role. These qualifications and experiences can enhance an RN's readiness and effectiveness in the emergency room setting:
      • Must be at least twenty-two (22) years of age and possess a legal address in the state of San Andreas;
      • Must not have been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor in the recent past.
      • Must have a satisfactory physical and mental health status to perform the essential functions of the role safely.
      • Must have an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) while having passed NCLEX-RN examination.
      • Experience as a paramedic or in pre-hospital care is advantageous, as it offers a unique perspective on emergency care and enhances an RN's ability to respond to ambulance arrivals;
      • Prior experience working in an emergency room or critical care setting is highly valued, as it provides Registered Nurses with exposure to the fast-paced nature of ER care and helps them develop the ability to handle high-stress situations;
      • Proficiency in languages other than English can be beneficial, particularly in diverse communities, as it allows for effective communication with non-English-speaking patients and their families.


2. METHOD OF SELECTION
