During my bachelor degree at Washington State University, I was able to have the wonderful opportunity to engage in the role of shadowing a physician; Cascade Valley Hospital(2017-2018). This immersive experience helped me understand the medical field and enriched my point of view. My existing appreciation and adoration for healthcare workers grew immensely. The collaborative environment of Cascade Valley during medical emergencies was something I was able to witness firsthand. Not only was it incredible to see, but it woke me up to the possibilities of the medical field. One of the most memorable moments was during one of the traumas that happened in the ER, a patient came in from an almost fatal car accident. In that moment I was able to see how quickly everyone was able to work together, from the ambulance all of a sudden onto a gurney and into surgery. It fueled my aspirations to put my foot down on pre-med and applying to a medical school.

V. MOTIVATION
- 5.1 Please provide your motivation for choosing the Department of Surgical Services over other departments.
I am drawn to the Department of Surgical Services for several reasons. First my profound interest and passion for surgical interventions fuels my motivation. The fact that such a small surgery no matter what kind, can make an incredibly transformative impact on patients' lives is beyond. The fast-paced and dynamic environment also draws me towards it further, it appeals to my love for high-pressure situations and critical decision-making. Moreover, the constant advancements and growth within the science/medical field allows for constant opportunity and space to learn new techniques. Not only growing personally but professionally as well, growth is something I truly embrace-- and with the Department of Surgical Services it will be even more of a possibility.
