    3.3) Challenges & Skills Gained:
During my time at LacedUp!, it taught me leadership. Also, when I started working at LacedUp!, I was still enrolled in high school, so it also taught me how to manage my time. At first, between school, homework, and going to work, I kind of struggled with either waking up on time for school or getting to work on time, but after a while of getting into the rhythm of things, time management wasn't a problem for me anymore in a day-to-day basic. Being a manager at LacedUp! also showed me that, as a leader, I can grow myself—not just me but my team too. It showed me how to be flexible with people and helped me have a better understanding of the people around me, build trust, and develop relationships with them.

  • 6.1) Submit your motivational letter down below, describing why you wish to join us, why we should choose you rather than someone else and why the qualities required from this job correspond to you: (max. 800 words)
After seeing my grandma fight cancer, I began to think about nursing as a potential profession. The nurses that helped her were sympathetic and considerate. Their support meant a lot to us because, in that difficult situation, their strong bedside manners were so crucial, and I remember realizing right then that supporting and helping people was something I wanted to do. And that’s when I decided that I wanted to become a nurse. I believe that becoming a nurse would be a purposeful and productive career path. You're faced with long hours, and every day you face a different situation. Nursing is something that takes more than skills and more than just passion. It takes more than just having knowledge of what you are doing; it also requires heart and commitment, and I doubt that many people are as prepared for that as I am. I feel like I'm a better candidate than everyone else because I am confident in my abilities as a patient and strong-willed person that’s dedicated to nursing and I'm ready for the commitment, the rush, the growth, and the need to give my all to my career and help others. I excelled in my CNA training and look forward to getting more experience in nursing and wherever I may lack in experience, I’m willing to make up for it by being a quick and efficient learner. I can adapt to change fairly quickly and will not back down from anything that gets thrown my way.

Kianna Mays was born on the west side of Los Santos in Little Seoul, where she would spend the first couple years of her life before she moved to the south side of Los Santos for high school. Growing up, she was the only child and had both of her parents in her life who dedicated their lives to their careers to make sure that Kianna had everything she needed. Because of that, Kianna often didn’t see her parents until a little bit into middle school, when her grandmother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. At fourteen, watching her grandmother die was not something she thought she could handle, but during that duration, the hospital staff and nurses comforted her and the rest of her family throughout that difficult time. That gentle care from the staff helped Kianna through a very difficult, depressive time and sparked a new interest in Kianna. At fifteen, she started high school, and that’s when she got the real opportunity to express herself and learn new hobbies. Because her parents were so dedicated to their work, they pushed and encouraged Kianna to be the same way. And despite living and going to school in Davis, Kianna didn’t want to be a product of Davis, so she did what her parents did: she dedicated her time to school and work. When she began to work at LacedUp!, she never had a job before and was very sloppy when it came to being on time for work, school, or finishing homework. And at first she did complain and whine about it, but she eventually took that as an opportunity to step up and take that responsibility to prepare herself for the real world. At eighteen, she was graduating high school in the top ten students and was being promoted at work to store manager. She spent a few more years after high school working at LacedUp! before she decided that she was ready to move onto her future career in nursing. After quitting her job, she enrolled in a 5-month hands-on CNA program where she learned some of the basic needs for becoming a full-time nurse. Now she is looking to spend her time to progress the medical knowledge she has, hopefully at Pillbox, and to dedicate her life to what she grew to love. With luck, she can further her dreams of being a nurse and become something much greater.
